You grow to love a website, but then the website changes. It is sudden. So abrupt it is you do not have time to adjust and you are left with the empty, lonely feeling that you do not belong in this place you had become so familiar with over time. Like if your partner suddenly got a radically different hairstyle, is it still really them on the inside? Can you still love them?

Speaking of websites, I logged into neopets the other day for the first time in years (why? I do not know but I do know that your neopets cannot starve to death but can apparently be starving forever. Like some kind of hellish limbo...) and I have 451, 000 neopoints.

This is basically Tumblr in a nutshell
Everyone freaks out for a few days and then they just deal with it

The only site I can honestly say get worst with every update would be Youtube. I remember when you can easily find a FAQ, the most popular videos at that given moment and filter options for when you are searching for something. Nowadays it feel more confusing and bloated while at the same time removing some of the most helpful features. Like what is the freaking point?

This is so true. Whenever there is an update for anything I update it when it is absolutely necessary, but otherwise I never do.

Yep, my neopets have been starving for three years and counting. Anyhow, for some reason they continue being happy, those masochist bastards :D

Websites? You should see Linux. 20 years... 20 years of the few easy things superficially getting even easier so generation after generation of blogtards and 4channers and redditors rave over it, drowning out the genuine complaints from professionals who don't have time to blog, whose job just keeps getting harder and harder, so they're forced to buy Red Hat support contracts to do things that were easy for them 20 years ago. It also kills off enthusiasts who want to progress, but they say stupid things like, "It's too clever for me now." There's just enough genuine progress to give the impression that it's all progress, but no more! Windows is just the same, for server operators. I tried FreeBSD last year. The base system was easier to set up, "Linux made for grown-ups" as a friend put it, lol, but much of the software on top, the fun stuff, was infected by update culture too.

I revised my ambitions, decided retro is good, lol. There's something I can run on just-about anything to get the programming environment I want, so that's what I'm starting to do, now.
