Dude, sorry but that statement is so grossly inaccurate, I don't know where to start.
First, movies based on books are 95% of the time largely inferior to their source material.
Second, I have read TONS of amazing books that have yet to be (and I hope never)adapted into film. Movie companies don't really make movies because the book is worthwhile, more they base their choices on the popularity of it.
Plus, even if the movie turns out to be decent, the characters that you construct with your imagination usually are better and more accurate than their movie counterpart.
