D: My mother's adventures with computers are scary. Sometimes she must quest to find where her cursor has gone. Never shutting the computer down, just turning it off at the switch.... and so on.

This is my aunt.
Just... exactly.
She asked me to speed up her internet, too, and when I pointed out the dozen toolbars she had running, she proceeded to tell me how each one was important- and why- one at a time. A couple she even said, "I don't know what that one's for, but I need it for this other one over here."
Pffft. XD

@flyingdreamer14: she'd made it go over so far to one side of the screen is disappeared. Then she couldn't find it when she moved it back onto her desktop and panicked.
Good times.

"Never shutting the computer down, just turning it off at the switch...."

Well, you know... That's not such a bad thing if the system is set up to shut down when you press it.

YUCK my dads computer was like this he also had no kidding 70+ tabs open at one and he claimed he was using them all and that it shouldn't slow down his internet *shudders*

Reply Symba Leijon (Guest), 19 Feb 2014 04:58 am

@DaVince: I have my desktop set to do that.

Reply DaVince (Guest), 19 Feb 2014 11:12 am

@patchestheshark: Because it doesn't. When a web page is loaded, it typically does not ask for any more data from the server. The main issue, rather, will become RAM usage...

@Symba Leijon: Yeah, I can imagine. That's how almost all systems are set up, anyway. :)
